Putting Mothers and Children Safely First, Every Day
We provide transitional housing, counseling, and advocacy that restores safety, stability, and hope for mothers and children.

Mothers First Foundation is a nonprofit providing trauma-informed housing and wraparound services for women with children. We help families exit crisis and rebuild lasting stability through compassionate, evidence-based care.
Our Mission and Vision
Our mission is to ensure every mother has a safe place to heal and the resources to thrive. We deliver housing, counseling, childcare coordination, workforce development, and legal advocacy, guiding families from emergency to independence with dignity, cultural humility, and measurable outcomes.
Founded by mothers and advocates, we saw gaps that left families vulnerable. Today, our licensed clinicians and navigators partner with local hospitals, shelters, and schools to remove barriers quickly, honor lived experience, and tailor supports that match each mother’s goals, strengths, culture, and timeline.

Empowering Women Through Safe Transitional Housing
Mothers First Foundation was established with a clear mission: to provide safe, stable, and supportive housing for women experiencing homelessness. Recognizing the growing need for compassionate and structured support, the foundation began as a community-driven initiative focused on helping women rebuild their lives.
From its beginnings, the organization has been dedicated to creating a secure environment where women can regain independence, restore confidence, and access essential resources. Through transitional housing and personalized support, Mothers First Foundation continues to empower women to move from crisis to stability and toward a brighter, self-sufficient future.

How We Serve Families
From the first call, we prioritize safety planning and immediate essentials. Residents receive private, furnished rooms, nutritious meals, and individualized case management. On-site counseling, parenting support, and career coaching create a clear path to income and stability. We coordinate childcare, healthcare, and legal advocacy, while flexible timelines and measurable milestones honor each family’s pace and celebrate every step forward. Always with dignity and respect.
Our Accountability and Transparency
We track outcomes, audit finances annually, and publish impact reports. Board governance and external partners ensure compliance, equity, and continuous improvement.
Meet Fatima Rhynes, Founder
Fatima Rhynes founded Mothers First Foundation out of personal experience. As a woman who once navigated motherhood as a single mom, she knows firsthand the uncertainty, fear, and isolation that so many young women face when raising children without a strong support system.
That lived experience became her mission. Fatima believes every mother matters and that every situation — no matter how difficult — can be transformed with the right support. Through MFF, she works to uplift and empower pregnant women and mothers facing hardship by connecting them with job training, life skills, and pathways to stable housing.
Today, as a mother and grandmother, Fatima brings the same love and dedication she’s shown her own family to every woman MFF serves — because no mother should have to stand alone.
